A cutting-edge horizontal drain replacing sand and rubble as drainage layers
DAEHAN i. m. is a manufacturer of various geosynthetics applied in civil engineering works, such as vertical and horizontal drains for soft ground improvement and geogrids for reinforced retaining walls.
Hori-Drain, developed based on the company’s technological know-how accumulated for 30 years, is a horizontal drain designed to replace relatively expensive horizontal drainage layers made of sand and rubble, sharply reducing the overall costs of construction by over 30% relative to existing construction methods.
The draining core of the Hori-Drain, which is shaped like ”山”, ensures a stable drainage performance even under high overburden loads thanks to ground contact area being over 50%, presenting three times as much drainage performance as similar products.
Hori-Drain has been applied at various domestic construction projects for soil improvement, including Eco Delta City and the Bukpyeong Industrial Complex. The product is also used in overseas projects, including ground preparation for the Coal-fired Power Plant in Cirebon, Indonesia, and the Thi Vai Port Project in Vietnam, demonstrating its superb performance.
Meanwhile, Verti-Drain, the main product of the company for soft ground improvement, is being exported to over 30 countries in Europe, Central America and Africa including the United States, strengthening its industry leadership based on its exclusive quality.
As the company was presented with a USD 10 million Outstanding Export Performance in 2017 CEO Kwan Young Cho said, “The competitive edge of DAEHAN i. m. is rooted in the fully automated production facilities it developed independently.” He added, “We are dedicated to continuous technology development and market exploration so that we can rise as a standard-bearer in the world’s ground improvement market, going beyond Korea.”
