New horizontal drain with 95% efficiency of water
DAEHAN i. m. (CEO Kwan Young Cho) is a manufacturer and supplier of geosynthetics such as horizontal and vertical drains for soft soil improvement and geogrids for reinforced retaining walls in various civil engineering works.
Wing Hori-Drain, a wing-shaped horizontal drain developed by the company with its unique technology, is a new high efficiency horizontal drain that replaces sand or rubble used for horizontal drainage layers in soft soil improvement works.
The existing horizontal drain goes through a vertical drain in the upper layer, and pore water that is drained through a vertical drain is unable to reach water channels of the horizontal drain, with most leaking (i.e., rate of water catchment being less than 35%), creating insufficient drainage.
Wing Hori-Drain enables a vertical drain to be directly inserted to water channels, avoiding inadequate water catchment and drainage due to leakage of pore water. The new product captures 95% of water in pilot testing. In addition, the Wing Hori-Drain went through performance analysis by an official authority and has been successfully applied on the construction site of the Myeongbeob/Naedeok natural disaster area. An application for a patent for related technology and engineering method of the equipment has been filed.
Meanwhile, the company’s main product, Prefabricated Vertical Drain (Verti-Drain), for soft ground improvement, is exported to over 30 countries in Europe, Central America and Africa including the United States.
CEO Kwan Young Cho said, “We will lead the trend change in the soft ground improvement market by exporting Wing Hori-Drain worldwide.”
